How to Identify Plain, Twill and Satin?

flame resistant twill fabric

The so-called plain weave, twill and satin refers to the fabric of the organizational structure. There is no better or worse of these three structure, but only different characteristics among different structures.

1.Plain

Warp yarn and weft yarn of Plain weave are intertwined once every other yarn.Tough texture and smooth surface. Plain weave fabric has more interwoven point to make it hard with smooth surface, positive and negative appearance have same effect, relatively thin, good ventilation. The structure of plain weave determines its density is low

2.Twill

Warp and weft yarn of twill are intertwined once at least every 3 yarns, that is,2yarn upper 1yarn down or 3yarn upper 1yarn down.Addition of warp and weft interweave points can change the fabric structure, collectively referred to twill fabrics. This cloth is characterized by relatively thick, strong three-dimensional organization.

Twill fabric is better to identify, because the twill fabric warp and weft interlining point in the fabric surface presents an angle of the twill line structure. It is characterized by positive and negative points, less intertwined, longer floats, soft feeling, high density, the product is thicker, strong organizational sense of three-dimensional

3.Satin

Warp and weft yarn of Satin fabric are intertwined once four yarns at least. It is the highest density fabric, the most solid cloth.More smooth delicate and shiny.

Satin weaving process is more complex, only one kind of warp and weft to float the form of long covered surface.Surface covered by warp yarn is called warp satin; Surface covered by weft yarn is called weft satin.Longer floats make the fabric surface having good luster, easy to reflect light. If use better glossy filament yarn as floating, fabric luster and the reflection of light will be more prominent.Satin fabric in the floating long-term easy to abrase, fluff or hook out the fiber. Therefore, he strength of such fabrics is lower than plain weave fabrics and twill weave fabrics. The density of satin fabric with same yarn count is higher and more solid, the cost is higher as well.
