How to use flame retardant clothing correctly?

In many industrial environments, flame retardant (FR) clothing is a key factor in ensuring worker safety. In addition to choosing the appropriate flame-retardant clothing, we must remind our employees that the correct use of protective clothing can extend its service life.
Why do you say this? In fact, the industry standard for what clothing will be protected in a specific environment is very specific. Manufacturers are also very specific in how to maintain these garments to maintain their effectiveness. Daily use and maintenance need to consider storage, washing, repair (if allowed) and many other factors.
Unfortunately, many employees think that their flame-retardant clothing is no different from other tooling, and they begin to treat it like a normal garment. For example, the rear of employees’ flame-retardant clothing is crumpled rather than properly stored. If there is dirt or even flammable substances will accumulate on these improperly handled flame-retardant clothing, thus affecting its effectiveness.
Flame retardant clothing is not impossible to burn. Even if the person wearing it is away from the fire, the flame retardant clothing will continue to burn. But when you run away, the FR clothes will automatically go out. Therefore, as long as the clothes are properly maintained, they will not make you fireproof, but just make you fireproof.
There is a real case. An employee stood next to the blast furnace when his flame-retardant clothing caught fire due to high temperature. It did not extinguish as expected. What we call afterglow is the time it takes for the clothing to burn after removing the source of the fire. Normally, it should extinguish almost instantly. We picked up the pants and tested it and found that they were soaked with accelerator. If the accelerator is on the clothing, it will continue to burn until the accelerator disappears, which will cause damage to the clothing and affect its flame retardancy.
Purchasing flame-retardant clothing is also a huge investment, but how can we ensure employees are safe from fire? Some companies multiply clothing by allowing workers to wear stronger flame-retardant clothing (such as jeans and work shirts) and external flame-retardant layers (such as semi-disposable work clothes). This is also a good way to expand security protection. The outer layer is used to protect your (more expensive) flame retardant clothing, but it is not included in the danger protection.
